Episode Demuxing in v1.0.0.73?

Damn, that was quick! Thank you!

Tested on my disc and it looks good. :salute:

Episode Demuxing in v1.0.0.73?

I've run into a problem where attempting to "episode demux" a playlist that calls two roughly-equal-size .M2TS files results in small, wrong output files for all audio and video streams. Demuxing the same playlist normally gives the expected output. This appears to be a regression sometime since v1....

I occasionally have access to broadcast feeds of freely-aired events, and they often contain multi-channel Dolby E audio encoded in "fake" PCM. That isn't playable as-is on consumer hardware so if you want to use it, you need to decode it and re-encode to a friendlier format to watch/listen at home....

Whoops, I think I've stumbled into something that I don't understand. Not surprising given that I'm not really part of the larger "community". (My request was solely for personal use, but if you anticipate such a thing being abused for commercial gain then I 100% agree that it's a bad idea. I really...

Hey Curly, here's a stretch goal feature request for you, some day in the far future when you are feeling terribly bored and maybe even a little masochistic: Dolby E demuxing. Here's the rundown of how one has to go about this currently (with freely available tools). The second link is a post furthe...

Not sure if I followed every single detail in this thread, but if I'm at least understanding the COLUMBO issue correctly, that playlist is a cleverly-done "montage" and now that we've seen it, I'm more than a little shocked that this is the first time anyone has encountered one. That seems like an e...

You have an existing request to convert to FLAC. Which one do you want, W64 or FLAC? I'd like FLAC please Curly. Thankyou Sorry to be contentious, but I think this is a bad idea. -demux should output the untouched stream. At most, for LPCM, it should be wrapped to RF64 WAV (.wav or .w64). It should...

This was amazing detective work, Rocky. Well done. :bravo:

Is the -5ms audio delay a value that should work for any audio format? I'm not familiar with the frame lengths of various audio codecs so I don't know how your value from this example would relate to any other situation.

Then I opened the 00800.mpls directly in MPC-HC and to my surprise I could hear the same short cracking noise there too. Sticking my nose in here, but combined with Rocky's comments above, this immediately suggests bad player handling of a very unlucky cut point on the Blu-ray. Not technically a "m...

So I checked with DGDemux and found that we don't have hidden marking for video, only for audio and subs. I'll tell the rock star about it.

:bravo: Great work! It would be nice to have the marking when just doing "eac3to RATATOUILLE" but currently that top-level listing does not show subs (already on the bug list). I may just leave it this way, haven't decided. Your thoughts? That's a tough call. Some discs (often Warner, Universal, Par...

Just so you know, eac3to option processing is very complex.
That is unfortunate, and I'm glad that you mentioned it. It's very easy to ask for various options from the sidelines without realizing how much effort they might require.

Unless it adds a significant maintenance burden for some reason, my vote is to restore it.

I don't personally expect to need it, but I hate to see anyone else's use case being blocked if there's a simple fix to permit it.

There are many retail Blu-rays that use 24.000 frame rate (particularly European discs), and quite a few streaming service TV offerings as well (some from Amazon are errors, but Netflix for example has many that are official/correct). I agree that warning about 24.000/30.000 is pointless. Not sure w...

I was sad to move past Windows 7, and the sheer amount of effort that is required to get Windows 10 into some semblance of usability that doesn't make me curse every minute hurts my soul, but now that I've been done with W7 for a year or two, I can't say that I miss it. Windows 11+ is a whole other ...

The bluray spec says an end chapter may or may not be present and it is potentially used in BD-J ... If one wants to precisely re-author a disk it should be retained ... It is at least harmless and may be used in some BD-J operations. The "Last Chapter" is a technical way which comes from DVD. The ...

I don't have a horse in the chapters race, but to play devil's advocate for a moment... what use would someone have for a chapter marker less than 10 seconds from EoF? Please describe a situation in which that feature is specifically useful.

As a matter of practice, I think that all command line tools should have something akin to a man page that provides a comprehensive rundown of usage, syntax, and options. I'm in favour of not bothering with MKV muxing at all because fully developing the feature (i.e. supporting all potentially useful mkvmerge options) will be a massive undertaking and that seems redundant to me. I just use mkvmerge directly or via the GUI for muxing. I suspect come users will have co...
