I also like PID or alternatively, a timestamp, e.g. log_200102.txt or log_20-01-02.txt indicating completion of eac3to process run @ 08:01:02PM.

As usual, provide exact command line, what retail disc it was from, and .log output if possible, and perhaps exact mkvmerge error output too (make sure to update to latest mkvtoolnix release, as may have Dolby Vision related changes). Thanks!

I also asked videohelp to update their v3.49 files to make sure slipstreamed fix is also present. Cheers!

EAC3TO Requests and General Discussion

I'm not totally aware of all the history on this matter, but trust Curly 's judgement. Even if he's not referring to the same individual, I believe the thread is enough proof that the fella has previously attempted to seek out and use free/open source tools for personal gain, and doesn't even try to...

I've just realised that when using -demux using eac3to command line PCM is extracted as a W.64 file. However when using UsEac3to gui PCM is extracted as raw PCM, when using -demux. Pay attention closely and you'll notice that UsEac3To does not actually use -demux when you click the RUN button next ...

I agree, but I have a suspicion the request was to allow an option/switch, maybe in the .ini, to convert to .flac when using -demux by default for RAW PCM tracks? I could be misreading, but I doubt Curly would force FLAC as only option for -demux when encountering these audio streams. I am also curi...

@Thunderbolt, this is not the right place for questions about older madshi versions, see the doom9 thread or just try to test yourself. Please don't post again if it's about v3.36 or earlier, unless it's related to a feature or bug in latest build somehow. Cheers!

EAC3TO Bug Reports and Feature Requests Only

Not saying it's the only solution here and can't be improved in eac3to (I'll leave that at Curly's discretion), but based on your use case (i.e. significant delay with true silence inserted), it may be more efficient and make more sense to use audio editing software to accomplish your goals.

@ DelBoy83 , I personally never remove dialnorm on TrueHD/Atmos tracks and just turn off any related Dolby processing in my Denon AVR settings instead. This keeps Atmos track unchanged, for preservation and perfect playback on all compatible devices, while you can always convert to any other (lossy)...

@ skull Greetz. Do you know if videohelp just links our EXEs at DG site or do they host an actual EXE? I wonder if there are any other developers using similar structures/language worth asking for advice? Maybe this happens sometimes and there's a way to avoid. Haha, appreciate the kind words. I'll send them a message but can you confirm when the latest hotfix version is ready? Currently, when I grab the file from here, it seems to have updated eac3to.exe, but also still has older changelog which has the word "test" in it: https://www.rationalqm.us/eac3to/...

... Not sure why I'm getting a crash with UsEac3to 1.3.3 with the latest 3.43 test build but not with 3.41 or 3.42 (INI file present) with a particular MKV file. I also use UsEac3to and have not had any crashes with latest v3.43 test (see update below, as now I have re-produced crash), I used .mkv ...

I would have thought an actual strange framerate could indicate a corrupt file or file header so could be nice heads-up for user, but maybe not necessary or job of eac3to. I didn't realize original code only triggered on 24/30p, lol.

I think that warning should still be kept for actual "unusual" framerates, but agreed it shouldn't warn about 24fps or 30fps or any other normal values used in video production historically. :)

Great work, as always! Btw, videohelp already pushed this update to the eac3to page, without being prompted. So far, so good, in my testing of this build. I also sent a friendly suggestion to maybe update the developer's website link from doom9 thread to this forum too (which they have now actioned!).

Thanks for that horseshowers , it was indeed a tad loud before, I agree. Another option is to just automatically use the Windows system settings for the user's alert/error sounds, but not sure how much effort that is, so maybe we can stick to the unique sound files, since they've always been there. :)

Totally agree. I can't believe people are making so much of this, lol. Removing the last chapter is one of the most trivial, simple operations you'll ever have to perform in your workflow for disc backups, if your heart desires. Let it go, and as others have pointed out, you're free to use older ver...

I'm afraid I'm siding with Curly and Rocky on this one. If it's in the retail file that way, then it's not really our place to decide we don't like that last chapter marker and delete it. If you don't like it, it is incredibly easy to remove, you can even do it all the way at the end of your workflo...
