Is there any way to change the network adapter used for the machine id? I was only using my wireless adapter with my pc, but now I have enabled the LAN on the board, and added a temporary 3g modem, which is now set as the 1st network adapter. This has made my previous license invalid, and I would rather not waste a license for a temporary adapter. Is there any way to change this?
Thanks
Nick

Re: First Network Adapter
No, you have to use multiple licenses. My policy is to reset people's count to 0 when needed. I've only had to do it twice in several years. Don't worry about it.

OK, thanks for the very quick reply.

Re: First Network Adapter
Sorry if I pick this up again,
I use a powerful Notebook in various scenarios when dealing with video related calculations:
- LAN with cable in
- LAN w/o cable
- Wireless on
- Wireless off
in any combination.
I would like to know why e.g. the state "cable in/out" for LAN makes a difference for the licensing algorithm?
I'm not complaining about the fact that I could and have to generate licenses for each state,
but the circumstance that it is not very transparent and you find out
e.g. the other morning that your jobs have not been done because of a licensing error of DGDecodeNV
(due to the fact that I pulled the LAN cable when I started the queue),
is very much frustrating.
Who knows what circumstances could render the license invalid, e.g. Wireless on, but no connection to a network?
How can I make sure I can blindly rely on DGDecNV at any time?
Thank you,
CaBleman

Re: [RESOLVED] First Network Adapter
I use data returned from the windows call GetAdaptersInfo(), including some IP addresses. If you do something that changes that then your machine ID can change.
Don't make networking changes. How can I make sure I can blindly rely on DGDecNV at any time?
