It's that time again folks ! We made it though another year !

Wishing you a warm gesture, merry Christmas and/or a happy Christmas time or whatever equivalent takes your fancy.

May we hope to make it though the coming year with kindness, hope and happiness and achievement of at least some our new and renewed goals.

Thank you so much hydra3333 for your kind wishes, which we return in full measure, and redoubled.

We have a major storm coming in on Friday that is expected to dump 12 inches of that white stuff on us.

Hopefully, they'll get the streets cleared up in time for the big day.

Wow !

We don't ever see snow within 1,000km even in the middle of winter (July-ish), so a tad envious.

It's been a nice 29C today, going toward 38C on Tuesday

Thereafter it starts to gets warm.

I recall as a young man with an exciting new girlfriend in the early 1980s that a US exchange student came over in January when we had a few weeks of 44C+ ... he looked a tad fragile but did put on a brave face.

Last year, driving along in midsummer my old car told me it was 48C outside, thank goodness for aircon (in the olden days that used to be the window winder handle).

Snow ... what a wonderful treat for you !

(PS I live in a city, not in the bush where it gets fairly hot.)

You Aussies are a resilient bunch. 44 C is 111 F, which is 1 F more than I have ever experienced. -31 C is the coldest I have experienced, on a day when my daddy dragged me around car shopping! I also lived through this:

But we didn't go shopping as a 4 foot drift blocked our doors. Eventually we went out a window to shovel the door clear. Insane!

The big snow dump was a squib. We only got 3". But it is -7 F (-21 C). Still, the birdies and my squirrel buddies were out there waiting for the morning feeding. Chicagoans are tough.

We had circa 20 at our place on Christmas day. Her family breed like rabbits, so it was all her lot.

Two air conditioners on high inside, a few of the brave ate under shade out the back.
Minus 7 F (-21 C) nowhere to be seen near here

I did try tell her she was too old to manage it this year, but had to make a strategic retreat

I lucked out marrying her, as her lot are all OK people. Aussie good natured occasional bagging each other applied, usually blokes looks and golf scores and wives being lushes (in the drinking definition, partly true in our cases), but they are a really lovely circus of brothers and sisters and kids.

Now ... wishing everyone a wonderful new year !
