[RESOLVED] Software to test compatibility
Hello everybody
First of all sorry to bother with LAPTOP again, I understood well that time is precious and LAPTOP often mess up things...
So I will NOT ask for support, just want to know how to test them.
My question is pretty simple:
Can you provide us a standalone software that can be used to test LAPTOP.
Nowadays, laptop are more and more powerfull and popular, but as you wrote already, most of the LAPTOP are not using properly OPTIMUS.
The goal is to have a software that can send instructions to the NVIDIA CUDA and report what happens
Something like :
"TESTCUDA.exe"
reporting
"CUDA H264 tested and working properly"
"CUDA HEVC tested and not working"
"CUDA HEVC HDR tested and not working"
or a command line program that can be run from USB with few test file we will put with like test.h264, test.hevc, testHDR.hevc ...
As we can test computer in showroom it will make it easy to know if it's working before buying it
Thanks for your great job
Regards

Re: SOFTWARE TO TEST COMPATIBILITY
Hello Guest 2
it's a good idea but don't think it will be reliable.
GPU-Z report the proper code for the GPU, but in DGindexNV under 'Video' / 'List GPU Devices' the GPU code is not reported the GPU Code properly.
MPV is using my nvidia GPU to help decode h265 but DGdecNV says it's not compatible... (OPTIMUS trouble ???)
A standalone software with just the same code as DGdecNV to test the response of the GPU would be more reliable I think
Hope it's possible in a simple way without troubles.
Thanks

Re: SOFTWARE TO TEST COMPATIBILITY
Here is a simple tester. If you have downloaded it before, re-download as I have added HEVC support.
http://rationalqm.us/misc/cuvid_test.rar
These are the invocations:
cuvid alba.264
cuvid -hevc surfing.265
Successful output looks like this:
D:\tmp>cuvid -hevc surfing.265
Processed 9253 frames in 3154ms (2933.73fps)
If there are missing card definitions in gpus.txt, you can either add them yourself or you can notify me (preferred so distribution gets updated).
Say thank you.

Please let us know if that Lenovo you were looking at works. If so, I may get one too.

I'll try that LENOVO and maybe some ASUS but don't know when...
I'm confined home for 2 (probably at least 4) weeks more....
I will update you
Thanks again
