DGindexNV in MeGUI

Post by von Suppé »

Hi all, new to this forum.

I'd like to ask if MeGUI is prohibited from free DGIndexNV usage? It's throwing a message that a license.txt is needed.
I have latest dgdecnv_237.zip unpacked in its dgindexnv tool folder.

Welcome to the forum!

No, MEGUI is not prohibited. That error message is coming from MEGUI, not DGIndexNV. So the MEGUI author would have to revise things.

Maybe try making a fake license.txt file. DGIndexNV won't check it.

I confirmed that making an empty license.txt file in the DGIndexNV directory solves the problem. It's a workaround until MEGUI changes things. Marking resolved.

Doh... I confirm the message is indeed gone now with an empty license.txt.
I'm not sure about the workaround. Elementary hevc stream is not accepted by MeGUI's indexer. And with hevc in mkv/m2ts container, DGIndexNV is greyed out.
I'll ask at Doom9 forum if MeGUI guys want to fix this.

Thanks, Rocky.

I entered a tracker issue and posted about it at Doom9. I have the modded files, just need someone to give them to.

I've read both Doom9's and sourceforge's MeGUI threads.

I understand that you have to make certain changes to the dgdecnv-package files to make them work within MeGUI. So that would mean that updating to future versions can't be done by just replacing the files in MeGUI's dgindexnv folder, am I correct?

Many thanks for your trouble and efforts, Rocky.

No. I made changes only to MeGUI.

No. You'll be able to do that.
Many thanks for your trouble and efforts, Rocky.
You're welcome, my pleasure.

I'll release a patched megui.exe if nothing official is forthcoming fairly soon.

Here is a patched release of MeGUI.exe. Pick the 64 or 32 bit one and rename to MeGUI.exe. Then replace MeGUI.exe in your existing installation with this one. Please advise results.

Wow, that's quick. Will try it out and get back.
Thanks Rocky

[EDIT] Several quick & dirty importing tests with hevc (ES and in mkv/m2ts container) prove it works like a charm.

As for import convenience, one minor thing.
When opening indexer's browsing window, default view option is set to "All supported files..." Where *.h265 files don't show.
Can you make files with *.h265 extension also visible? They'll now only pop up when I select "All files".
Also I noticed that *.265 and *.hevc are listed twice in the "All supported files..."
