Deferred log write

Post by Guest 2 »

The log file is written only when another BD directory is opened.

Steps:

1) enable info log;
2) drop a BD and demux it;
3) look at the destination directory and there will be no log file;
4) drop another BD;
5) log file will be written.

That's surprising because the log file should be written only on closure of DGIndexNV. Still, given the track record of the big t, it's worth looking into.

Some power resistors arrived today and Sherman's gonna do the work on that. Tellin' ya, all that work on zoom and UI left me dazed and confused. Still reeling from lots of things; aren't we all?

This gaps correction thing, maybe Sherman could make a simple utility to combine TrueHD and AC3. That would solve things and could be helpful elsewhere. Whee.

Well, I thought (wrongfully, it seems) that it should have been written at the end of the indexing :D

Tell us how you think it should work. One idea: write the log on each indexing operation and just keep appending to the log file with a date and time for each indexing operation. Delete the log if you want to start over.

As every dgi file usually goes in a separate folder, I think that a log file should be written every time that the indexing is finished. If you instead want a log for dgindex program jobs, better to write in the program folder.

What about other users?

For sure, writing only when another folder/file is loaded is not functional.

It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear

Shut up, Natti, you wouldn't understand.

Big t, I like your idea to write a log on every indexing operation. We'll figure something out.

DGDecNV build 240 now writes a log after every indexing operation. Marking resolved.
