Color shifting issue - DGDecNV

Post by MeteorRain »

So I'm trying to encode some TV program and DGNV doesn't seem to decode the source file correctly. The whole picture is seen divided into 4 bands, each of them has some sort of dynamic color shift. What could be the reason?

(I randomly found this image hosting service. If it doesn't work I can upload the image to somewhere else.)

The correct image is taken from l-smash works, decoded by ffmpeg.

I can share a short clip if you are interested.

RTX4060 mobile
DGDECNV255, Windows 10
Source is HEVC 10bit, container doesn't affect the issue
Color shifting can only be seen from avisynth, not from the DgIndexNV UI.

Hello MeteorRain. Long time no see.

That's interesting. Please provide a short source sample and your avisynth script. Thank you.

If it works in DGIndexNV the chances of a fix are high.

Hey! Long time no see.

You know what, after DM'd you the source file I made some more testing. Looks like the issue only happens when the video is muxed into MP4. Tried again with MKV container and it no longer reproduces. I think the issue is with the MP4 muxer that somehow messed up the stream.

I must have mixed the results when testing different combinations of things. Sorry about the false positive!

Good to hear, thank you!

It's HDR HLG so you'll have to take that into account when comparing apps. For example, that could account for differences between DGIndexNV and DGDecodeNV.

8K too! I don't see too much of that. Saving to my streams database.
